My Creative Space: Suki Kyoto Space Bear

This week I've been back working on the sewing machine, it's been a good! So here's my latest creation....

Meet Suki Kyoto Space Bear. Suki loves to time travel, eat ice-cream with chocolate brownie sauce, spending time with humans and getting scratches behind her space antenna ears.

Psssttt…it's a secret, but Suki has time travelled and come back, she predicts a world of floating marshmallows, space travelling machines and space bears as pets instead of doggies in 2020!

Name: Suki Kyoto Space Bear

Date Of Birth: 21 October, 9am sharp.

Height: 56 cm

Hobbies: Tme travelling, eating ice-cream and being pampered by her owner to say the least.

Occupation: Time Travelling, just for fun and to discover new little secrets she can share about the future!

Meet Marcelo!

Finally got around to making some softies, it's been so busy lately trying to juggle work and different softie projects. I am currently working on my softie swap project for my swap partner Sandy. I can't give away too many details, as I want to keep it a surprise for her!

Anyway, it's time to meet Marcelo! Not sure what he is, I guess you can call him a monster of some sort! I'm starting to have a mini obsession with designing monsters, softies that just don't look so normal but are just as loveable! :)

Name: Marcelo "Monstruo" Gonzales

D.O.B: 15th October

Height: 56 cm, 74 cm (counting the ears standing up when Marcello is angry!)

Hobbies: Eating little creatures and just being scary, you know just the usual...scaring kids and anything smaller than myself...

My Creative Space: Spring is here!

Since it's Spring now, I've started to dig up my floral prints and bright yellow and green fabrics. I've been looking through a few books to find inspiration here and there for some new designs. I'm now inspired to make some little bags with my floral prints, I haven't made little bags before, so this will be a new learning experience.

Here's some of my materials to play with!

Gorgeous Spring inspired pattens and colours.

Here's a close-up of the fabrics, aren't they beautiful? This is the reason why I have become a fabric addict!

This is one of my favourite prints right now, it's basically replicating being on a farm, it's like a story.

So I guess I'll get cracking and see what I come up with, hopefully I'll have something for the next Creative Space!

My Creative Space: Did Someone Say Catbitt?

Ohh so late with my Creative Space this week! ohh well better late then never!

This week I've been a bit sidetrack. I wanted to make a softie, but I didn't know what kind of softie I wanted to make, so I just got a whole lot of materials together and designed something on the spot. Not sure if it was a good idea, but this is how it turned out...

I don't even know what this softie is, initially I thought it could be a cat but then I decided to make really long ears for it so it kind of diverted from being a cat! I wanted to make long ears so that kids can grab onto the ears to hold the softie. That idea came from my nephew, where I gave him a monkey with a long tail and he kept on holding onto the tail to swing it around. I think it's crossed between a cat and a bunny :) That's the great thing about softies, there's no right or wrong as long as they're huggable and loved.

So please meet Kobe the Catbitt (cat combined with rabbit)!

Well that's in for me. I am currently working on making some pencil cases and huge huggable pillows, very different from softies so it will be a new learning curve for me :) Also in the pipeline, "With Luv Clementine" will be available on Etsy soon! Stay tunned!

My Creative Space: Need a Bag?

This week I decided to take a small time out from making softies to make something a little different. I decided to make a cute little carry bag. All I knew was that I wanted it to fit these three things:
  • be extremely colour
  • use various fabrics
  • strong and sturdy
So I came up with this design. I love pockets, the more the merrier I say! I used quilt batting in between the cotton fabric to provide a more thicker layer so when you carry it, it will feel like a real bag.

I love making these cute little pockets and the polka dot buttons are adorable!

As much as I love making softies, I have so many different ideas for other crafty things too. I recently brought a box of Derwent Artist pencils so I would love to make a pencil case to store my new drawing pencils next!

Rubi's Sisters Have Arrived!

So I did say I was making a batch of sisters for Rubi, well...taadahh...

Welcome Hannah Panda (in themiddle) and the other sibling (on the left) who will remain nameless for now because she's a gift for my colleague's daughter.

I decided to try using a different type and pattern of fur for Hannah, somehow she turned out looking a little panda-ish or a bit on the skunk side! I think I prefer a panda.

Hannah is suited up in a nice dress with suspenders and apple buttons. I love the patterns that were used for her shirt and skirt, somehow I was drawn to the colour blue when I created her and luckily I had a nice collection of blue pattern fabrics hidden away in my cupboard!

Nameless sibling has the same type of dress, however I used some little fluorescent butterfly buttons for her shirt, teamed up with lovely dotted red hearts for the buttons to hold her suspenders together. My colleague mentioned his daughter's favourite colour was purple so I tried to incorporate purple on every part of this softie. I hope she likes it!

Here is a picture of Hannah's cute black Mary Janes, they're so adorable!

So that is what I have been busy with lately, creating more furry girl softies. I think I will have a little break while I come up with some new ideas!

My Creative Space: Meet Rubi!

And then she was the latest member to join the softie family.

Name: Rubi Rose.
D.O.B: 1st September. The first day of Spring!
Hobbies: Just being so damn cute.

Doesn't she look so soft, fluffy and hug-able?

My most favourite part of making Rubi was making her Mary Jane shoes. I hand sewed them because they required a bit of a delicate touch! I love them so much I can't stop making these cute shoes. I teamed the shoes up with some thigh high socks to add some character to her.

Here's a close up of her dress, I used some white lace, pink 100% hand dyed wool felt and cute little love heart buttons.

I really enjoyed making her so much that I have started to make a new batch of sisters for her. This time I made a cute little dress with grey wool felt suspenders and red apple buttons, topped off with a classic pair of black Mary Janes.

Rubi has inspired me so much that I am going to make another special one to give as a gift to my colleague's daughter. She loves the colour purple, so I'm off to search for everything purple now! Cheers!

Sneak Peek: My Little Princess Monster

Here's a sneak peek into a new softie I am currently making. I call her my little princess because she's just so soft, fluffy and cute! But in actual fact I am not quite sure what she is? a monster? a girl? a big fur ball? Either way I am sure she will turn out lovely in one way or another :)

She's made from fur faux, 100 % hand dyed wool felt and of course lovely cotton fabric.

My Creative Space: Endless Experimentation

I haven't participated in Kirsty's My Creative Space for a while now, it's nice to be back playing again!

Lately I have been trying to explore and experiment with different types and patterns of fabrics. The more I play around I am beginning to find certain fabrics are better suited for different designs, this makes the whole fabric purchasing experience even more fun!

Some of the fabrics or materials I am loving right now are:

  • fur faux100%
  • hand dyed wool felt
  • lovely fabrics with lots of repetition. eg: bright polka dots, colours symmetrical lines and shapes
  • laces
  • colour buttons

This is a sneak peek at the materials I am currently experimenting with!

I am also enjoying waking up early to watch the sun rise!

Would you care to meet Mr Harry Bear-ri-licious and Mrs Darla Periwinkle?

Please meet Mr Harry Bear-ri-licious and Mrs Darla Periwinkle....

They're my latest handmade softies inventions. I am not sure if they're animals (doggies) or monsters?…the great thing about softies is that there's no right or wrong. They can come in all size, shapes, forms, colours and yet they still look adorable!

I am feeling very inspired right now. I have so many ideas running through my mind, I just wish I had more time in the day!

Until next time..Cheers!

Getting My Rhythm Back!

Ohhhh how good it is to be back. Apologies for being so low key in the last month or so, I have been extremely swamped with work, travelling back and forth on the plane every week with lack of access to my craft materials. I've been so deprived of my softie making time, but now I think I am starting to get the rhythm back.

I've invested in a small mini Elna which is tiny, so I can fit in my suitcase when I make the weekly flight from Melbourne to Sydney (back and forth), so hopefully I can start thinking up some more ideas and designs for the softies!

I've thought about coming up with a new project called "Project Girl". For as long as I can remember starting from a little kid, I've always loved dolls. My early fixations started with Cabbage Patch dolls, I finally got one when I was young which I cherished so much. I've been thinking for a long time that I would like to make a doll softie collection, but the ideas and eagerness never really cemented until now. I feel like I am ready to explore this world of dolls softies and bring some to life!

I have some ideas of what I want to do and of course before you think any further, it will involve colours because naturally, "I Love Colours!".

So just popping in to say "Hi" and that "With Luv Clementine" is still alive and kicking and more inspired than ever!

The Winners Are...

It's been such a hectic week! Apologies for not getting back to you all sooner, I've just been swamped down with work so much that I haven't had time to dedicate to my softies creation.

So I really enjoyed old and new friends popping over and saying "hi" in the last creative space, it's nice to meet new fellow crafters and learn something new about people, I love that! I had so many dilemmas trying to decide which new home I would give my mouses to, I don't like the fact that I might be neglecting someone who could enjoy them as much as I do. Therefore, I have decided to give the mouses to all of you who dropped by last week to say "hi"! Yes you heard it right.

So the new mouses will go to these lovely new homes:
  • Amanda I hope your 5 month old bub will enjoy Mouse 4.
  • Steph and Carlos, I love the fact that your whole family would be able to share Mouse 4! I hope your kids enjoy the latest member to your family.
  • Little Grubs, honest is the best policy and you've shown that. I hope you enjoy Mouse 1 and start to discover the wonderful world of softies!
  • Helmitarha I love a fellow beader! It would be so special to deliver Mouse 3 all the way to Finland to you, enjoy!
  • Marley, Mouse 1 is coming your way, enjoy!
  • This Photographers Life, I love Colour Me Katie too :) Mouse 1 is on it's way to you!
  • Kellie, the wonderful thing about softies is that they're so colourful that it suits boys and girls. I hope your boys will be able to love Mouse 2 as much as I do!

I am in the process of bringing the mouses to life! I will contact you all via email to get the details for delivery. They will be delivered to you all within the next two weeks! I would love to hear what name you've given them once you received them.

Little Grubs and Marley, can you please email me with your details as I am unable to contact you.

I will post pics of the lovely mouses soon on my blog, keep tuned in!

My Creative Space

Last week I promised, so this week I'm delivering.

Sooo...did you guess what it was? drum roll...a cat? a dog? a teddy?'s a mouse!

Meet Macey the Mouse.
Bio: I love cheese, cheddar cheese, feta cheese, ricotta cheese, cheeseburgers, yumm!
Height: I'm big enough to cuddle!
Hobbies: I like to tease the occasional cat, meowwww...

I love creating softies, but the thing I love more is enjoying the excitement and expressions when someone receives one of my softies! The great thing about softies is that there's no right or wrong. For example: Macey can be green, yellow, brown, have orange ears and red arms, it doesn't matter how different she is, she is unique.

So getting down to the give away! This week I have four mouses (or mice) to give away, I am being a bit sneaky again because I want to keep the excitement mood alive! The four mouses are below, it's a sneak peek, once the winners have been chosen I'll post the finished mouses next week in my creative space. Normally I give all my softies names, but this time I am calling them Mouse 1 to 4 so I will leave the naming of the mouses to their new owners!

It's quite easy, leave a note to my post, you choose how much or little you want to write. I would like to know:
1. A little about who you are? I love meeting new fellow crafters!
2. Who you would like to receive the softie for? Don't be ashamed if it's for yourself, who said adults can't enjoy softies!
3. Which mouse you would like to receive.

I'll announce the winners next week in my creative space and then the mouses will be on their way to their new homes. If you know other people who love softies or mouses/mices, let them know so they can pop along and say 'hi' and have a bit of fun!

On another note, you can find more inspiring creative spaces at Kristy's.

What's held in my hands

This is my favourite photo of the few I took today. I have an obsession with taking pictures of things held in my palms. I don't know why, it just looks so inviting.

Today I can offer you a Persimmon.

The more photos I take, the more I fall in love with my camera.

I am also spending my long weekend off working on my surprise softies! Hope everyone is enjoying their long weekend off!

My Creative Space

It's that time of the week again, welcome to My Creative Space. Soo, what did I do this week? I've been know as you do, on a little something...a little something special!

As much as I love to create and make, I love to give! This week I am working on a little surprise. I've been designing a new softie, I can only give you a sneak peek! Don't pull your hair out trying to figure out what it is, all will be revealed next week! AND I will be giving it away.

Stay tuned to this space to see what and how?

On the other front, I have been enjoying a few things this week, we'll actually 10 things!
1. I am overly excited that I stalked the Ticketek site to get my MUSE tickets, Dec 14th I can't wait!
2. I am so happy I discovered today that the Sri Lankan restaurant across the road to my work has the most yummiest fish buns! you must try fish buns! yumm go fish buns!
3. I feel quite guilty yet again after I indulged myself in a bunch of lovely new fabrics at the Spotlight 20% off fabrics sale, DWOH!
4. I am in love with my new "thinking" song. It's a song called 'Ten Thousand Lines' by Electric President.
5. I attended the Digital Life Expo last weekend, which is all about photography. I got to try out a Nikon 3S with a 300mm, 400mm, 500mm, 600mm lens! It was amazing! At one point I would have held about $15,000 of equipment in my hands, scary!
6. I'm sorry but I love sticky date pudding with vanilla ice-cream, it's official.
7. My mother is very interested in where all my softies have disappeared to. 'Mum, they've gone to a place where they will bring smiles to faces".
8. I love boots, is that the new trend for this season? because I see every women wearing them! I especially love my indie boot below!
9. I am more conscious of how much I have returned to my bad habit lately, bitting my nails, yuck!
10. I am currently in the city of Melbourne's annoying sibling, Sydney :)

Please go visit Kristy's for more inspiring Creative Spaces!

My State of Mind

This photo pretty much sums up my state of mind right now....

We learn to "live" life to the fullest.
We "work" to stay grounded and supported.
We "create" to inspire.

Most of all we don't take anything in life for granted, but at times we have to look at things and learn to take it with a grain of salt, otherwise we would never see the better side of life...

Electric President

This song is the song I absolutely enjoy listening to whilst I am working this week. It's a song called 'Ten Thousand Lines" by Electric President. I like this band, very much.
Just close your eyes and listen to this song and then you will know what I mean....
Sometimes we just need a song to trigger off our imagination, this is my song.

Passion Pit

I am crazy about this Band and song right now, I just love their unique sound so much. It reminds me a little of MGMT. I can not wait to see them live in August! Their two shows are totally sold out, I can understand why.

Passion Pit - To Kingdom Come.

15 Things

So I've just realised, I've been posting stuff up for a while now, but you don't really know me. So let's get acquainted...

15 things I like, dislike, do and don't.

1. I love cupcakes, even though I sometimes find them too adorable to eat.
2. I like taking pictures of things up close where the background blurs and all you see is the subject, the real beauty.
3. I dislike flying, it makes me claustrophobic because I feel like I am losing my personal space.
4. I am in love with the Aussie band 'The Temper Trap'. I wished they would take me on tour with them, I don't mind being a groupie for a day or two…
5. I like making softies because I feel like it's a time where I get to be that 5 year old girl again who wished she had a cabbage patch doll when everyone else had one.
6. I don't like mean people, that goes without saying…
7. I wish i was 10-20 cms taller, then I can wear jeans that fit without alterations! argghh…
8. I'm sorry but I can watch 'The Notebook' over and over again 100 hundred times and never fall out of love with Ryan Gosling, I mean who can?
9. I believe the line "Don't Believe The Hype" should make a reappearance just for sake of the iPad…come on now, who wants a HUGE iPhone?10. I am mad about Modcloth, they have pretty dresses. I don't wear dresses much, I am such a tomboy, but I can't resist stalking their site every hour to see new pretty dresses.
11. I love my dogs, they are my babies until I have real babies. They don't judge me, they love unconditionally and most importantly the obey ;)
12. I dislike my short memory, it's so annoying…err sorry what were we talking about again?
13. If I could live the life of someone for a day it would be...drum roll please...taadah…Wynona Ryder in 'Little Women'. I still love that movie until this day.
14. I loved Sex and the City, but I don't know if I can stand watching the sequel to the movie. Carrie should have ended up with Aiden, not MR BIG! arrghh...
15. I can't believe I resorted to ebay last night to buy 'Passion Pit' concert tickets, that just shows how desperate I am..SOMETIMES!

So now that we're acquainted, feel free to leave a comment about 15 things about you. I would like to know who you are!

My Creative Space

This week has been extremely busy, I can't begin to tell you how many moments of "stop and take a deep breathe" I've encountered. I really wish I had more time to dedicate entirely to making my imaginative creatures come to life, but with reality, we're always short of time!

This week I only had time to bring one softie to life, my hippo.

Name: Alice
Height: 35 cms
Hobbies: I like to bath all day long and graze on grass, umm what else did you expect from a hippo?
Bio: I have an obsession with being clean!

I started to make Alice her male companion, Alfred. He's slowly coming to life.

I started to draw again, don't ask me who or what this is, it was just a moment of doodling.
More creative spaces can be seen at Kristy's.

I Love Colours

Lately I've been drawn to colours, the brighter and more vibrant the better. Whenever I look at these flourescent bright colours I get a feeling like I want to make things and create something new.

My new motto is "Get Excited and Make Things"!

So I decided to combine my love for photography with colours.
This is how I was feeling this weekend....

I surrender...don't hold me guilty for loving colours.

Reflections: when colours intertwine, we are all equal.

A Naked Pole

So I've been eyeing this pole for a's located in Docklands, right by the habour.

WHY you may ask?

Well, for two reasons:
1. It looks so naked.
2. It kind of reminds me of a road with intersections.

So I finally decided to jazz it up a bit one afternoon...give it some life! All of a sudden all these animals started to appear!

Now doesn't that look more vibrant? I hope some kid enjoys the pole now....

What a Great Day

This photo pretty much sums up my day…AWESOME!

I spent the day photographing people, objects and Art in Melbourne.

Most of my day was spent in Flinders lane and Hosier lane.

I absolutely heart Hosier lane, it's one of the most inspiring places in the heart of this city!

One guy watches the world pass by on Flinders lane.

I love Art in all forms, I especially love Street Art, there is no better form for freedom of expression then being able to live and breathe through your Art!

Yes, goodbye Juliet, see you in another year...

Cute B-boy doing what he does best, making Art!

I leave my mark behind on Hosier lane, dancer's pose.

I witnessed a guy run a marathon on stage in his underwear on Swanston St, right smack bang in the heart of city. Anything and Everything goes in Melbourne!

To top the day off, I found the best message ever!

What a great day!
